Two persons were killed, and two more injured following a major explosion in a Pharma firm followed by a massive fire in Gujarat’s Valsad district on Monday night. As per officials, a sudden explosion happened in Van Petrochem Pharma Company in Sarigam GIDC Chemical Zone of Valsad district. Over the course of the event, a portion of the building collapsed. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital in the immediate area as soon as possible.
After getting informed about the event, fire tenders were also sent into service to assist with the situation. However, the firefighters were unable to put out the fire with water since they were unaware of the chemical that caused the explosion before the fire started. "We got a call that there was a fire that just started," the person said. Up to this point, two bodies have been discovered. Two patients are admitted to the hospital. When the firefighters and I arrived here, there was nobody working the security when we arrived. We cannot start the fire fighting operation as we are not sure, which chemical is present, which has sparked the fire,” Rahul Murari, firefighter Sarigam stated.
