Rahul Gandhi Lambasted on modi Over Adani In Parliament

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of India's main opposition party, recently took Prime Minister Narendra Modi to task in parliament over Modi's alleged connections with billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani. Gandhi accused Modi of taking direct orders from Adani in order to give the industrialist unjustified grants and other preferential treatment.

Gandhi claimed that Adani had been given a sweetheart deal in the matter of setting up a coal plant, and that he had been appointed to build the world's largest gas import terminal without any competitive bidding. Gandhi alleged that Modi's government had waived off hundreds of crores of debt owed by companies associated with Adani, despite the fact that it had refused to grant similar waivers to farmers in distress.

Gandhi further accused the Prime Minister of using government machinery to facilitate the financial interests of Adani, and demanded that the Prime Minister explain his connection with the industrialist to the people of India. Gandhi's comments have been welcomed by many who have long suspected that Adani has been getting undue favour from the Modi government.
