Koustav Bagchi, a lawyer from Kolkata High Court, was arrested at his home on Saturday morning after nearly five hours of questioning and search. According to Bagchi, the police were sent to his home because he made comments against the Chief Minister during a press conference.
He stated, "I didn't think the Chief Minister would be so scared of me. This is my moral victory." Bagchi said he would fight against the state government in court the next day. He claimed that the police had arrested him because his comments disrupted peace in the state. The incident has sparked protests from the Youth Congress, who have promised to take action.
On Saturday night, a police team from Bot-tala police station arrived at his home at 3:00 a.m. and arrested him. He was taken to the police station at 8:00 a.m. the same day. When the police took him away, Congress workers present at the scene chanted slogans against the police.
