Outrage Spreads as Saudi Ramadan Restrictions are Unveiled: No Mosque Iftar or Prayer Broadcasts Allowed
In preparation for the upcoming Ramadan in 2023, the Islamic Affairs Ministry of Saudi Arabia has announced a series of new regulations that have sparked controversy and anger. Among these regulations are prohibitions against loudspeakers, prayer broadcasts, and iftar meals in mosques, as well as a ban on donations to mosques. Additionally, worshippers are required to present identification, and children are not permitted to pray in mosques.
These rules have been interpreted by some as a shift away from emphasizing Islam as a fundamental aspect of Saudi Arabia's identity.
