The former NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) zonal director, Sameer Wankhede, has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Mumbai. The CBI is investigating Wankhede's alleged attempts to extort money from Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan after falsely implicating his son, Aryan Khan, in a cruise drug case. The CBI has filed a case against Wankhede and other officials under various sections, including bribery, extortion, and criminal conspiracy. The investigation is based on a vigilance report by the NCB and alleges that around 25 crore rupees (approximately 3.3 million USD) were being extorted from Shahrukh Khan's manager. Wankhede is scheduled to join the investigation at the CBI office in Mumbai. The case could potentially involve charges of money laundering, and the Enforcement Directorate may also become involved. Aslam Merchant, the father of another individual arrested in the same case, has praised the CBI's inquiry and called the entire cruise case a trap for star kids. He questioned why others involved were allowed to go free and expressed the need for justice for Aryan Khan. The summoning of Sameer Wankhede is seen as a significant development in this ongoing case.
