Villa Tunari, Bolivia - Former Bolivian President Evo Morales met with comrades and former executives, leaders of the Interculturales of 4 Cañadas and San Julián together with the current Montero Sectional Directorate and representatives of the MAS-IPSP youth in Villa Tunari on Tuesday.
The group expressed their concern and pain over the attacks and attempts to divide their social organizations. Morales listened to their proposals, concerns, and recommendations.
"It hurts to see our former leaders shed tears over the attacks, blackouts and gassing that our sisters and brothers of the CSUTCB have had to suffer, some even with their children," Morales said.
He called on the group to remain united in the face of these attacks. "United we will save our political instrument MAS-IPSP from the political attacks of divisionism, betrayal and opportunism," he said.
The meeting comes amid a period of political instability in Bolivia. In November 2019, Morales resigned as president following weeks of protests over allegations of election fraud. He was subsequently granted asylum in Mexico.
Morales returned to Bolivia in November 2020 and has since been active in politics. He has led a movement to unite social organizations and to regain power for the MAS-IPSP party.
The meeting in Villa Tunari is a sign that Morales's movement is gaining momentum. The group's commitment to unity is a strong message to those who seek to divide Bolivia's social organizations.
It remains to be seen whether Morales will be able to regain power for the MAS-IPSP party. However, the meeting in Villa Tunari is a sign that he is still a powerful force in Bolivian politics.
