A CPM leader was shot in andal on Monday night. The incident took place in front of the Siduli colliery area of Khandra gram panchayat in Andal police station.
The victim has been identified as Budddeb Sarkar. He was shot three times by unidentified miscreants. One of the bullets hit his hand, while the other two hit the car's window. He was rushed to a private hospital in Durgapur for treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter. They are yet to identify the attackers or the motive behind the attack.
The incident has caused widespread tension in the area. CPM workers and supporters staged a protest in front of the Siduli colliery demanding the arrest of the attackers.
