The incident took place as the female constable, stationed in Sultanpur Police, was assigned duty at the Ayodhya Sawan Jhula Mela. To reach her destination, she boarded the Saryu Express from Sultanpur on a Tuesday night. Unfortunately, due to fatigue, she inadvertently overslept and ended up in Mankapur instead.
When the train finally arrived in Ayodhya at around 4:30 in the morning, the officer was discovered in a semi-conscious state, her body bearing signs of a brutal attack. Her injuries were severe, including a deep cut on her cheek, and she was covered in blood.
