The West Bengal government on Tuesday announced a major reshuffle of the state police, transferring 31 IPS officers.
According to the order issued by the Home Department, Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi, who was the Police Commissioner of Siliguri, has been transferred as the IG of Jalpaiguri Range. Mukesh, who was the DIG of Bankura, has been made the DIG of Murshidabad. C Sudhakar, who was the DIG of Jalpaiguri, has been appointed as the Police Commissioner of Siliguri.
Other IPS officers who have been transferred include:
- Ajoy Kumar Mishra, who was the SP of Darjeeling, has been made the SP of Birbhum.
- Praveen Prakash, who was the SP of Nadia, has been made the SP of North 24 Parganas.
- Praveen Tripathi, who was the SP of South 24 Parganas, has been made the SP of Howrah.
- Bhaskar Mukherjee, who was the SP of Hooghly, has been made the SP of Purulia.
- Joydeep Mukherjee, who was the SP of Malda, has been made the SP of Nadia.
The transfers come at a time when the state is gearing up for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities. The government has said that the reshuffle is aimed at ensuring smooth law and order during the festive season.
