A 26-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh was arrested on September 15 for allegedly joyriding on her motorcycle, without a helmet, on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, where two-wheelers are not permitted.
The woman, identified as Nupur Patel, was stopped by traffic police officials for violating the rules. However, Patel refused to cooperate and began verbally abusing the cops. She even allegedly pointed her cigarette lighter, which was shaped like a pistol, at the police personnel when they asked for her license and the vehicle's documents.
A video of the incident has surfaced online, showing Patel arguing with the police officials. She can be heard saying, "How dare you stop me? My father owns this road."
Patel was eventually arrested and charged with violating traffic rules, obstructing a public servant from performing their duty, and threatening a public servant.
The incident has highlighted the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules, especially on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, which is a busy road with a high volume of traffic. It has also raised concerns about the growing trend of road rage and violence against police officials.
