Dharamsala, India - Netherlands, the lowest-ranked team in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, caused another upset in the tournament by defeating South Africa by 38 runs (DLS method) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on Tuesday.
Earlier, Afghanistan had registered a 69-run win against England in Delhi. This is South Africa's first defeat in ODI World Cup 2023.
Netherlands batted first and scored 245/8 in 43 overs, thanks to a half-century from captain Scott Edwards (58). South Africa were bowled out for 207 in 40 overs, with Aryan Dutt taking four wickets.
This is Netherlands' third win in their history of the ODI World Cups, and their second upset of the tournament, having previously defeated Bangladesh.
The result of this match has thrown Group 1 wide open, with all five teams now having at least one win and one loss.
