Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and unions fail to reach agreement on bonus

Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and unions on Tuesday failed to reach an agreement on bonus for the financial year 2022-23. The unions have demanded a above previous bonus of Rs 40,500, while the management has offered a bonus of Rs 23,000.

The unions have threatened to go on strike if the management does not agree to their demands.

The unions have argued that the company has made a profit of Rs 3,000 crore in the last financial year, and therefore, the workers deserve a higher bonus. However, the management has said that the company's financial condition is not good and it cannot afford to pay a higher bonus.

The unions have also said that the management is not taking into account the rising cost of living. They have said that the workers are struggling to make ends meet and they need a higher bonus to meet their basic needs.

The management has said that it is willing to negotiate with the unions, but it cannot agree to their demands. The management has also said that it is committed to the welfare of its workers and it will do everything possible to resolve the issue.

The meeting between the unions and the management ended on Tuesday without any resolution.
