Several popular Indian apps have been removed from the Google Play Store in a dispute over fees. Google has removed apps from 10 Indian companies, including matrimony and dating apps like Shaadi.com, Bharat Matrimony, Jodii, TrulyMadly, and QuackQuack. Other removed apps include the audio platform Kuku FM, the entertainment platform ALTBalaji's ALTT, the job search app Naukri.com, and the real estate app 99acres.
This comes after Google warned the companies of action for not complying with its app billing policies. Google charges fees ranging from 11% to 26% on in-app purchases, and the Indian companies have been resisting this fee structure.
The dispute is ongoing, and it is not clear when or if the apps will be reinstated to the Play Store.
