CPIM General Secretary M.A. Baby Criticizes PM Modi's Speech for Omissions on Indian Heroic Efforts
In a series of tweets, CPIM Politburo member and General Secretary M.A. Baby expressed strong disapproval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent address, criticizing its failure to acknowledge several heroic efforts of Indian citizens and officials during the Indo-Pak conflict.
Baby highlighted that the Prime Minister did not mention the sacrifice of those killed in cross-border shelling or extend condolences to their families. "In his rhetorical oration, the Prime Minister didn't find time to even mention those who were killed in cross-border shelling and their families," Baby remarked.
He further criticized the omission of recognition for the bravery of the Kashmiri people, who played a pivotal role in aiding victims of terrorist attacks and unequivocally condemned the violence. "The courage and selfless actions of the Kashmiri people deserved acknowledgment, but sadly, the speech was silent on this," he added.
Moreover, Baby pointed out the lack of condemnation for ongoing hate campaigns and the trolling of the Foreign Secretary, who was attacked online for representing the government's stance.
Reaffirming the principles of a parliamentary democracy, Baby declared that the Prime Minister's speech cannot substitute for a structured discussion in Parliament. "Democracy is not a one-way traffic. The government remains answerable to Parliament," he asserted.
The CPIM leader's criticism reflects broader opposition concerns about the government's communication and accountability on national security and domestic unity during critical times.
