Durgapur, May 16: In a strong show of solidarity with teachers and educators who were subjected to alleged police brutality in Salt Lake’s Bikash Bhavan yesterday, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] organized a massive protest march this evening. The demonstration was spearheaded by the CPI(M)’s Durgapur Steel Area Committees 1 and 2.
The march began at the B-Zone Health Center Rotary and concluded at Kashiram Das Rotary, with participants voicing their outrage against the Trinamool Congress government’s alleged oppression of teachers and its purported deliberate dismantling of West Bengal’s public education system.
Protesters condemned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for what they termed as "planned destruction" of the state’s education infrastructure and "inhumane and ruthless police-mercenary violence" against those striving to uphold the dignity of society’s educators.
The demonstration saw enthusiastic participation from residents of the steel township, who stood united in their demand for justice and reform in the state’s education sector.
