China-Europe Freight Train Crosses New Milestone via Erenhot Railway Port
By Sunday evening, a new China-Europe freight train departed from the Erenhot Railway Port in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern China. The train was loaded with automotive parts, household appliances, and everyday goods, reflecting the growing demand for international rail freight services.
Since the beginning of this year, over 1,500 freight trains have traversed the Erenhot border crossing in both directions along the China-Europe international railway corridors, according to the Hohhot Bureau of the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
Erenhot remains the largest inland railway port on the China-Mongolia border, playing a pivotal role in facilitating trade between Asia and Europe. To date, a total of 19,000 freight trains have passed through this gateway, operating along 73 distinct China-Europe cargo routes.
This milestone underscores Erenhot's significance as a critical node in China's Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing connectivity and fostering global trade.
