SYDNEY — January 6, 2026 — In a world already scarred by the shadows of imperialist aggression, the Communist Party of Australia (CPA) stands in absolute, burning indignation. The pre-dawn silence of Caracas was shattered on January 3 by the thunder of a lawless empire, marking a day that will live in infamy for every person who believes in the sanctity of a nation’s soul.
The CPA unequivocally condemns the Trump administration’s barbaric and illegal military strike against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela—an operation that culminated in the violent kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
The Blood of Martyrs
Our hearts heavy with grief, we send our deepest condolences to the families of those slaughtered by the high-tech machinery of Washington. Among the fallen are 32 Cuban patriots, brothers in arms who shed their blood on Venezuelan soil while fulfilling an internationalist mission of peace and security.
A Doctrine of Brazen Theft
This is not about "democracy." It is about oil.
What we are witnessing is the "imperial logic" spoken aloud. Trump has discarded the mask of diplomacy, threatening not just Venezuela, but Mexico, Colombia, Greenland, and Canada. The United States now asserts its own sovereignty as absolute while treating the rest of the world as a mere "sphere of influence" to be plundered.
"The nations of Latin America are in the crosshairs of this new strategy. Dominating this region is seen by the ruling class in the US as the key toward holding onto global supremacy."
— CPA Central Committee
A Call to Resistance
The CPA is appalled by the spineless rhetoric of the Albanese government. By calling for a “democratic transition” in the wake of a terrorist abduction, Prime Minister Albanese has virtually condoned this act of international piracy.
Australia faces a choice: 1. Stand for the Rule of Law and the UN Charter.
2. Submit to US Unilateralism, where military power, assassinations, and bribery replace justice.
OUR DEMANDS:
HANDS OFF VENEZUELA!
IMMEDIATE RETURN of President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores.
NO BLOOD FOR OIL!
The Albanese government must immediately condemn these illegal attacks.
The struggle for a better world will not be silenced by bombs. We call on all workers and students to join the emergency solidarity campaigns. The resistance starts now.
