KOLKATA: Navigating the turbulent waters of India’s ongoing educational crises, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) convened a high-stakes media briefing in the state capital today. Turning up the heat on regulatory bodies, the student outfit launched a scathing assault on both the Central administration and the National Testing Agency (NTA), addressing the systemic anomalies that have jeopardized the academic destiny of millions of medical aspirants.
The briefing served as an ideological battleground, with student leaders dissecting the structural decay within national competitive frameworks following the unprecedented NEET-UG paper leak controversy.
Core Imperatives & Key Mandates Articulated by the SFI:
Dismantling the NTA Ecosystem: SFI leadership vociferously demanded the complete dismantling of the National Testing Agency, characterizing it as an opaque, compromised entity utterly incapable of safeguarding institutional integrity.
Accountability at the Apex: Citing gross administrative oversight and a persistent refusal to acknowledge the magnitude of the crisis, the organization demanded the immediate abdication of office by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Supreme Court-Monitored Probe: The committee highlighted that the meticulously organized multi-state leaks necessitate a time-bound, independent investigation overseen directly by the apex court to unearth the political-bureaucratic nexus behind the leaks.
Countering the Democratic Deficit on Campuses: Shifting focus to regional grievances, representatives flagged the lingering stagnation in West Bengal’s state universities, calling for an immediate end to administrative ad-hocism and the prompt restoration of democratically elected student unions.
"An Institutional Subversion of Merit"
Addressing reporters, the state leadership emphasized that the psychological toll on Gen-Z candidates is an existential crisis rather than a mere logistical failure.
"For the working-class and marginalized periphery, cracking these premium examinations is a ticket out of generational economic hardship. By turning this rigorous pursuit into a playground for corrupt syndicates and digital black markets, the state is actively subverting merit and weaponizing anxiety," a senior SFI secretariat member noted.
Anticipated Escalation and Future Trajectory
The press conference concluded with a definitive ultimatum. SFI announced a blueprint for an uncompromising, phase-wise agitation scheduled to ripple across Kolkata and neighboring districts. The planned pushback will encompass coordinated student strikes, massive youth rallies, and the submission of comprehensive charters of demands to civil authorities, signaling that the student community refuses to allow this systemic malaise to become the new normal.
