Outrage in Bardhaman: Left Cadres Dragged and Brutally Assaulted in Broad Daylight as Political Terror Escalates

BARDHAMAN: A chilling display of political violence and mob aggression has left the city of Bardhaman in shock and fury. What began as a brazen attempt to forcibly grab the Nishan Party Office near Vivekananda College Mor quickly turned into a horrifying ordeal for dedicated CPI(M) activists—igniting widespread anger and fierce calls for justice across the region.

Dragged Through the Streets: A Terrifying Assault

In broad daylight around 10:00 AM, terror unfolded near the Vivekananda College Crossing. A mob allegedly led by former TMC-turned-BJP operatives Dibyendu Kumar Saha (Rajen Saha) and Rajendra Kumar Saha targeted the residence of an elderly, 80-year-old party veteran.

When Dhiraj Mahapal and Pradip Majumdar courageously intervened to shield the vulnerable worker, the assailants unleashed their rage upon them.

  • The Half-Kilometer Trail of Blood: Dhiraj was mercilessly beaten and dragged across public roads for nearly half a kilometer to the BJP party office at Berh Mor.

  • Violence Behind Closed Doors: The abuse escalated inside the party office, where Dhiraj was subjected to relentless blows until fellow CPI(M) comrades rushed in and rescued him.

Wounded But Unbroken

The physical toll on Dhiraj Mahapal reflects the sheer cruelty of the assault. Covered in deep lacerations and suffering excruciating pain in his head, chest, and neck, he was rushed to the hospital for emergency CT scans and medical treatment.

"His entire body bears the scars of mob brutality," declared local representatives. "Yet, despite their physical wounds, the spirit of our comrades remains unbowed."

Defiance on the Streets: CPI(M) Vows Unyielding Resistance

Gathering outside the Burdwan Police Station to submit official medical injury reports, CPI(M) District Committee member Dipankar Dey voiced burning outrage against the culture of impunity:

"Is this the rule of law or the tyranny of political goons? They thought they could abduct our leader, lock him in their office, and beat him into submission. But we do not fear them. Our comrades went straight into their stronghold and forced them to release him!"

Demands for Action and Massive Protest Rally

  • Police Complaint Lodged: CPI(M) leadership has demanded the immediate arrest of Dibyendu Kumar Saha, Rajendra Kumar Saha, and every member of the mob involved in the kidnapping and assault.

  • Massive Protest March: A powerful protest rally has been called at Vivekananda College Mor (Natural City area) to unite citizens against political violence and administrative bias.

  • A Stern Warning: Party leaders made it clear that if authorities fail to enforce the law or attempt to stifle democratic protests, the administration and the perpetrators will bear full responsibility for the rising unrest.

The streets of Bardhaman now echo with a resolute message: democratic rights and human dignity will not be crushed by political intimidation.
