New Delhi, August 4, 2026 — In a politically charged confluence of opposition leaders, Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday released Vaiko in Parliament, a four-volume English compilation of speeches made by MDMK general secretary Vaiko over more than three decades in Parliament. The first copy of the book was received by Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The launch took place at the Constitution Club of India and drew several prominent leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah, underscoring the event’s significance beyond the literary sphere.
According to Vaiko, the volumes collect some of his most important parliamentary interventions, reflecting his long-standing positions on federalism, language rights, labour issues, social justice, and Centre-State relations. The book is being presented as both a record of parliamentary debate and a testament to Tamil political assertion within India’s democratic framework.
Vaiko also said that a Tamil version of the work, titled Naadalumandrathil Vaiko, is expected to be released later in Chennai after the translation is completed.
The Delhi launch has been viewed as a symbolic moment for regional and opposition politics, bringing together leaders from different parties on a shared platform.
