CPI(M) will campaign against attacks on Dalits: Awadhesh
Jogbani under Araria district, which is adjacent to Biratnagar of Nepal country, in that city dozens of Dalit families have been settled on government land for about 40-50 years.
In the past, the CO of Forbesganj block office had issued notices to Dalit families by issuing orders to vacate the place.
There was immediate intervention from the CPIM and as a result, immediate demolition action was put on hold.But with the connivance of the land mafia, fine and the district administration, the construction work has been started for the bus stand adjacent to the Dalit settlement there.
As soon as the construction work is completed, there is a danger of demolition of huts of Dalit families by using bulldozers.
Members of CPI(M) Central Committee, former State Secretary of Bihar, senior leader of Mahagathbandhan Awadhesh Kumar, CPI(M) Araria District Secretary Ram Vinay Rai and other leading colleagues reached Jogbani yesterday and met landless Dalit families. People told that the circle inspector, on the pretext of making alternative arrangements, is doing bus stand construction work in connivance with the land mafia. The delegation told that a serious problem of bus stand has arisen in front of the affected Dalit families. They are all very worried, sad and angry.
The leaders who went to the meeting called upon the Mahadalits to stay at their present residential site and demanded an immediate stop to the construction of the bus stand and construction of a bus stand at another location.
