Sakshi won gold in women's wrestling

Sakshi Malik returned with a stunning win, bringing gold to India in the Commonwealth Games in women's wrestling 62 kg freestyle. Sakshi Malik won the country's sixth gold medal in England's Birmingham. She defeated Canada's Anna Gonzalvez and gave the country the desired victory.

She came from behind in the first round.  The countrymen were thrilled to come back in a fast way. She could not take part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but she made up for it by winning the gold medal in Commonwealth.

Sakshi was born on 3 September 1992 in Mokhra village in Rohtak district of Haryana. At just 12 years old, she started training under Ishwar Dahiya and five years later, she tasted her first success with a silver medal in the 59 kg freestyle at the 2009 Asian Junior World Championships, which was held at the 2010 World  Won Bronze Medal in Junior Championship.

After winning bronze at the 2013 Commonwealth Championships, Sakshi Malik competed in her first Commonwealth Games in Glasgow the following year and came away with a silver medal, stumbling against Nigeria's Aminat Adenia in the 58kg final.
