Francisco Xavierito Rodrigues Member of the CPIM Goa State Organising Committee passed away on August 7 after a brief illness.
He was also a member of the Goa State Committee member of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).
He got involved in trade union activities as a young man in Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) being an active member of the Marmagoa Waterfront Workers Union (affiliated to CITU). At its peak the union had almost 900 members. At one stage, he was even terminated from his job (alongwith 2-3 others) on account of his trade union activities only to be reinstated later.
After retirement, FX continued with his CITU and party work, regularly attending meetings and taking his responsibilities seriously.
