On Monday, England continued their hot scoring streak by cruising to a 3-0 victory over Senegal in Al Bayt stadium to advance to the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022. With the win, England will face the defending champions France in the quarterfinals, after the French team defeated Poland 3-1 on Sunday.
In the 38th minute, England midfielder Jordan Henderson opened the goal with a cushioned shot into the bottom right after being set up by an infield ball from Jude Bellingham.
Harry Kane quickly doubled England's lead with his first World Cup goal at the end of a brilliant counterattack.
After gaining some ground on the opposition's defence, Jude Bellingham passed the ball upfield to Phil Foden to set up a two-on-one. After taking a touch, Foden passed to Kane, who calmly slotted the ball beyond the Senegalese goalkeeper.
Bukayo Saka scored the game-winning goal late in the second half, capitalising on Foden's pass into the box and chipping Edouard Mendy to score.Senegal were disheartened in the last portions of the game despite a spirited opening.
Despite their team's lacklustre performance, the Senegal fans in the stands kept the energy up by dancing and singing the entire time.The current champions, France, will face the eventual winners, England.
