The elections for the 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are currently taking place in the nation's capital city. These elections are extremely important. The elections will be the first ones to take place following the consolidation of the three municipal bodies in May.
While the Aam Aadmi Party is working toward achieving a greater degree of control in Delhi, the BJP is confident that it will be able to extend its reign, and the Congress is working toward regaining some of the lost ground.
The following is the number of polling stations: In total, the nation's capital is home to 13,638 different voting locations. For the purpose of providing a high-quality experience for voters, 68 Model Polling Stations and 68 Pink Polling Stations have been set up. These polling stations feature amenities such as a feeding room for nursing mothers, swings for children, and a selfie booth. Additionally, all of the polling station staff at these stations are female.
Over 1.45 million people are qualified to cast their vote in these upcoming elections. 78,93,418 males, 66,10,879 females and 1,061 transgender persons. There are 95,458 people who have never voted before. The ward with the greatest number of residents is: Mayur Vihar Phase 1 has the most residents of any ward in Delhi with its 88,878 total inhabitants. Sangam Vihar and Trilokpuri currently hold the number 2 and 3 spots, respectively. With only 40,467 residents, Kanjhawala is the most populous of all the wards.
Number of candidates: There are 1,349 people running for office this time around, which is a significant drop from the previous election in 2017, when there were 2,538 people running for office.
