North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has once again reasserted his nation's commitment to achieving 'matchless military might', calling on all North Koreans to fully embrace a 'might of arms' mentality.
In a speech broadcast on state television, Kim warned that the US and its allies were using economic sanctions as a way to 'wreck havoc and damage' the North Korean economy, and that the only way to counter this was to rebuild the nation's military strength and capability.
He also said that North Koreans should reject the notion of 'strategic patience' in favor of aggressive and proactive measures that would protect the nation's sovereignty and independence.
Kim noted that, despite the continued international pressure and economic hardship, the North Korean people had remained determined and had not faltered in their loyalty to their leader and nation. He urged them to continue to show such resolve, and to 'transform the nation into a powerful military state, impenetrable by any foreign forces'.
The speech comes as the US and North Korea remain locked in a stand-off over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program, with Kim's regime having recently resumed long-range ballistic missile testing.
