Official discussions between the Mexican and Cuban delegations, led by their respective presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Miguel Dáz-Canel Bermdez, took place on the final day of the agenda for the visit of the Caribbean leader to Campeche, which took place this past Saturday.
According to information obtained from Prensa Latina, this meeting was held in private, as had been announced, and all of the members participated to discuss a wide variety of issues of bilateral interest. The most important of these issues are reportedly those related to the collaboration in health provided by Cuba, the supply of ballast for the Mayan train, and the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the United States maintains against the island.
Among the pertinent aspects mentioned by the leaders themselves is the fact that Mexico requires the presence of more foreign medical specialists and that Cuba remains willing to cooperate with Mexico in this regard; as well as López Obrador's announcement that the Aztec nation will lead and promote a movement in defence of Cuba's sovereignty with the goal of suspending the United States blockade of the Island as soon as possible. The blockade has been in place for more than 60 years at this point.
In the same manner, it was demanded that Cuba be immediately removed from a specific and arbitrary blacklist maintained by the United States government. On this list are included, devoid of any component or evidence, the nations that the US government deems to be nations that support or promote terrorism.
