Foreign ministers from around the world are attending the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India's national capital. The two-day Summit, which began on the 2nd of March, is taking place amidst Russia's war in Ukraine and the escalating tensions between the US and China. The foreign ministers of member nations, including Russia's Sergey Lavrov, have arrived in New Delhi to attend the meet. India has invited other countries as well, and the focus will be on reforming multilateral institutions, counter-terrorism, global skill mapping, development cooperation, and food and security issues. However, the Ukraine-Russia conflict is expected to dominate the agenda. India, as the host of the grouping, will need to bridge the divide between the two sides.
India will also focus on issues and their impacts, such as price hikes, and will be the voice of the global South. India's challenge will be to not let the conflict take up all the oxygen in the room. India will be pulled in various directions as it tries to continue taking a neutral approach. The meeting of foreign ministers of the Quad countries, the US, India, Australia, and Japan, is also scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers meet.
