শিলিগুড়ি এবং নিউ জলপাইগুড়িতে মোট ২৫০ কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করতে চলেছে পিসি মিত্তল গ্রুপ। স্পেনের অন্যতম রেল কোচ তৈরির সংস্থা পিসি গ্রুপের মালিকানাধীন রেল ওয়ানের কর্ণধার কমলকুমার মিত্তল ঘোষণা করেন, ১৫০ কোটি টাকায় শিলিগুড়িতে ইথানল তৈরির কারখানা তৈরি করা হবে। এবং ১০০ কোটি বিনিয়োগ করে নিউ জলপাইগুড়িতে কংক্রিট স্লিপার ( যে কংক্রিটের ব্লকের উপর রেললাইন পাতা থাকে) তৈরির কারখানার জন্য হবে।
এই বিনিয়োগের ফলে উত্তরবঙ্গের অর্থনীতিতে নতুন গতি আসবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে। এছাড়াও, এই দুই কারখানায় প্রায় ১০০০ জনের কর্মসংস্থান হবে।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এই বিনিয়োগের স্বাগত জানিয়েছেন। তিনি বলেছেন, রাজ্য সরকার শিল্প বান্ধব এবং শিল্পকে সমর্থন করার জন্য সবরকম ব্যবস্থা নেবে।

West Bengal to Receive Rs 250 Crore Investment Ahead of Puja
The PC Mittal Group will invest Rs 250 crore in Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. Kamal Kumar Mittal, chairman of Rail One, a subsidiary of PC Group, one of Spain's leading rail coach manufacturers, announced that a Rs 150 crore ethanol plant will be built in Siliguri and a Rs 100 crore concrete sleeper plant (concrete blocks on which railway lines are laid) will be built in New Jalpaiguri.
This investment is expected to boost the economy of North Bengal and generate employment for around 1,000 people in the two factories.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee welcomed the investment, saying that the state government is industry-friendly and will take all steps to support industry.
