CPI(M) Leader Shot Dead by Land Mafia in Bihar
Bihar - CPI(M) Murliganj block local Secretary, comrade Rajesh Hansda, was shot dead by the land mafia in Bihar on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
Hansda was a vocal critic of the land mafia and had been fighting for the rights of farmers and landless laborers. He was shot by unidentified assailants while on his way home from work.
The CPI(M) has strongly condemned the attack and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits. The party has also extended its deepest condolences to Hansda's family.
"We are deeply saddened by the news of the brutal murder of comrade Rajesh Hansda," said CPI(M) West Bengal state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra. "He was a dedicated comrade and a tireless fighter for the rights of the oppressed. His sacrifice will not go in vain."
The CPI(M) has called for a statewide protest on Thursday, October 26, to demand justice for Hansda. The party has also urged the state government to take immediate steps to protect the lives of activists and to crack down on the land mafia.
