A man, Vinayak Bakale, hired a gang for ₹65 lakh to kill his father, stepmother and stepbrother over a property dispute in Karnataka's Gadag. The killers killed his stepbrother Karthik but also mistakenly murdered three guests, including a 16-year-old girl, who had come for Karthik's engagement ceremony. Karthik's mother Sunanda is Gadag-Betageri City Municipal Council vice-president.
