Police Detain CPIM Telangana State Secretary John Wesley During Protest Against Israel's Actions in Palestine
Hyderabad witnessed intense protests today as CPIM Telangana State Secretary John Wesley and other leaders were detained by police while demonstrating against Israel's ongoing actions in Palestine, which protesters labeled as a "genocidal war." The protest was organized by Left parties and took place in front of the U.S. Consulate in the city.
The demonstrators condemned Israel's military aggression and urged the Indian government to immediately suspend all forms of military and security cooperation with Israel. Carrying banners and raising slogans, they denounced what they described as a grave humanitarian crisis in Palestine, highlighting the role of the U.S. in supporting Israel's actions.
The police, citing concerns over law and order, detained several participants, including prominent leaders. However, this did not deter the protesters, who vowed to continue their efforts to raise awareness and advocate for justice in Palestine.
Addressing the media before his detention, John Wesley stated, “We cannot stand by silently while innocent lives are lost. The international community must hold Israel accountable for its atrocities, and India should take a principled stand by cutting all military and security ties with them.”
The Left parties also criticized the Indian government for its perceived silence and complicity, urging stronger action in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. They reaffirmed their commitment to mobilize further protests across Telangana and the country until tangible steps are taken to address their demands.
This protest is one among many nationwide demonstrations organized by leftist groups, NGOs, and citizens who are demanding justice and peace for Palestine amidst the escalating conflict.
