SFI's 4th Gujarat State Conference: A Resounding Call for Justice and Solidarity
Ahmedabad, 15 June 2025 — The 4th Gujarat State Conference of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) commenced with solemnity and resolve, as a heartfelt Condolence Rally paid tribute to the victims of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash and the martyrs who have given their lives for transformative movements. The conference was inaugurated by Comrade Mayukh Biswas, General Secretary of SFI, in a spirit of unity and determination.
Eminent leaders graced the occasion with their presence, including Com. Hitendra Bhatt (General Secretary, WZIEA), Com. Arun Mehta (State Secretary, CITU), Com. Dayabhai Gajera (Secretary, Gujarat Kisan Sabha), Com. Satish Parmar (State President, CITU), Com. Prakash Makwan (WZIEA), and Com. Faisal Sidikki (Ahmedabad District President, DYFI). In their stirring addresses, the speakers passionately illuminated the multifaceted struggles of students, youth, farmers, and laborers, emphasizing the urgent need for collective action and systemic reform.
The delegate session, inaugurated by Com. Nitheesh Narayanan, Vice-President of SFI, began with the presentation of a comprehensive report by Com. Nitish Mohan, the outgoing State Secretary. The report meticulously detailed the challenges facing the student community, including the contentious Four-Year Undergraduate Programme, alarming fee hikes, rampant paper leaks, soaring unemployment, delays in fellowship disbursals, and the inadequacy of hostel facilities. Following vigorous discussion, the report was unanimously endorsed, reflecting the collective resolve of the delegates.
A newly elected 21-member State Committee was announced, with seven Secretariat members leading the charge. Com. Satyesha Leuva was appointed as State Secretary, and Com. Harekrishna Rathod assumed the role of State President. Other pivotal appointments included Comrades Aagman Leuva and Ajay Patel as State Joint Secretaries, Jignesh Verma and Hiral as Vice-Presidents, and Dhruv Mahitkar as a Secretariat member. The committee also welcomed 14 additional members, while strategically reserving six positions for future inclusions to strengthen its ranks.
The conference concluded on a triumphant note with the resounding slogan "Inquilab Zindabad," signifying an unyielding commitment to the cause. Over 111 delegates from seven districts, alongside the newly elected State Committee members, took a solemn oath to champion the rights of students and oppressed sections of society. They pledged to unite the youth of Gujarat in their pursuit of justice and progress, while setting their sights on the forthcoming 18th All India Conference of SFI, further fortifying the movement's resolve and vision.
