In view of Captain Lakshmi Sehgal's death anniversary, All India Democratic Women's Association took a novel initiative. Women's blood donation camp was held at Shaheed Bimal Dasgupta Memorial Building in Durgapur.
At the beginning of the camp, Shanti Majumdar, the secretary of West bardhaman district committee of the organization, started the camp by laying a flower to Lakshmi Sehgal picture. While speaking during the commemoration, she said that women are being attacked in various ways these days, on the one hand, economic crisis, on the other hand, women are heavily affected by gender discrimination. Capt. Lakshmi Sehgal's ideals will add motivation to the fight, along with her being strong in left-wing ideas, will make forefront soldiers in the fight for social change.
Today at the blood donation camp
A total of 27 people donated blood including Krishna Dasgupta District President Shanti Majumder secretary Maitri Das (District Leader along with 26 women including 1 male.
Voluntary friends of Durgapur Division Voluntary Blood Donors Forum helped in running the camp. Durgapur Divisional Hospital Blood Center collected the blood.
Eminent doctor Dr. Soma Roy, Deputy General Secretary of West Bengal Voluntary Blood Donors Forum Kavi Ghosh, prominent labor leaders Viprendu Chakraborty, Partha Mukherjee, Pankaj Roy Sarkar, women leaders Vandana Mondal, Jahanara Khan, Raisi Maddi, Devmita Sarkar, Alpana Chowdhury along with the camp. Many other dignitaries were present.
