If anyone else's name is the most popular after Nelson Mandela in the political history of South Africa, Desmond Tutu is one of the names in the anti-apartheid movement in Africa. Desmond Tutu was born on October 7, 1931 in Klerkdrop, Transvaal, South Africa. He was a religious priest although he did not devote a large part of his life to the ministry. Rather continue his journey as Rights activist. He is playing an unforgettable role in the prevention of AIDS and tuberculosis. Also, his role in campaigning against poverty, racism, sexism etc. is commendable.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984. He received the Gandhi Peace Prize in 1999 and the Gandhi Peace Prize in 2007. After studying religion at King's College in London, Tutu got involved in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. He has a great contribution in ending apartheid in South Africa. Tribute on his birthday.
